Eldorado Springs Canyon View

Custom home remodel to create a united and connected space with soaring window wall

The homeowners wanted to unite the main floor with the existing separate basement apartment, get more light into the space and make the most of the Eldorado Springs Canyon views. It took design discipline to make the biggest impact — we worked within the budget and not letting the scope creep or everyone’s enthusiasm to get out of control.

We got rid of the industrial styled apartment front, and removed floor space, and lifted a portion of the roof, creating a two-and-a-half story atrium entry that floods both floors with light and opens up views to the canyon. A new stair unites the once-separate spaces. The kitchen and dining spaces were reconfigured to make the most of the new flow of the home.

The exterior wood is Canadian cedar.

This remodel tells the story of the house — and of its owners. “When I come home now, I stop. We’re so lucky to live here,” they say.
